Elf Yourself, Again

It's that time of year again to go Elf Yourself. This year, you can elf up to 4 people, and even call a toll-free number and record your voice and make it elfy. Elftastic.

Alternatively, you can also Scrooge Yourself, which turns out to be a little bit more Broadway than you might expect.

Vancouver 2010 Mascots

Today the official mascots for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games were announced, and they are cute.

They were designed by half-local/half-Los Angles design company Meomi Design, are rendered wonderfully and speak like Pokemon. As far as I can tell, Miga is a sea bear who turns from a whale into a little bear, Sumi is what I thought was a bear but has the wings of an eagle and apparently wears a whale hat, and Quatchi is a regular old Sasquatch, and is obviously the coolest. Those are the 3 main ones, but there's also Mukmuk the marmot, who sports an oversized "We're number one" hand and is awesome.

On the website, you can watch a really nicely animated video, download some desktops, and even take a quiz to see which mascot you are (I was pleased to find out that I am Quatchi).

Overall, they might be criticized for being super cute but they are really just mascots and anything is better than our friend Izzy the Whatzit here. I really like them and look forward to seeing them around.

Best Halftime Show Ever

This one takes a little bit of imagination, some mirroring of your brain, and a little knowledge of video game history, but is undeniably amazing. How all these performers can play music while memorizing incredibly complex formations is beyond me, but man, is it fun to watch...

Sega Startup Screens

This is my youth condensed into 15 minutes: a video showing 143 classic animated Sega logos. The first 29 are with their original in game sound, and are the best, while the other 114 are accompanied by music and can be scrolled though at your leisure.

Human Tetris Strikes Back

The "Human Tetris" Japanese game show is back with and better than ever. The best ones are episode 3 and episode 4, the grand master tournament. Who wouldn't love to play this game?

Thanks Steph for the heads up...

Internet Stars are Viral

If you have been on the internet some time in the past 10 years, then I guarantee you have heard of at least 3 of the web heroes featured in this video, a comprehensive compendium of viral all-stars presented to the tune of "We Didn't Start the Fire".

I don't know if I'm proud of it or not, but I counted them all and I'm familiar with at least 83 of the 132 viral stars in the video. Maybe I need to read a book...

My Brother the Hero

My brother Spence finally got his genius recognized on Threadless, and you can now buy his "Music Snob" shirt before it sells out, which I predict will be soon.

Halloween 2007: Attack of the Clones

Awaiting the Arrival of the Original
This year for Halloween, five of us at work dressed up as clones of our boss. Partly because we know him so well, and partly because he's so predictable, we were able to almost completely match his outfit without him even knowing what we were planning.

This is his reaction upon seeing us for the first time.
